Court judges tackle RP’s justice system in Puerto Princesa PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Nov. 8 (PNA) - Approximately 300 members of the Philippine Trial Judges League, Inc. (PTJLI) are expected to attend a three-day national convention to tackle judicial system in the country in this city.

The convention starts today and will end on November 10 at the Legend Hotel.

US gov’t continues to help safeguard RP’s environment, improve tourism - US envoy PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Nov. 3 (PNA) - US Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney said the U.S. government is committed to help protect environment and improve tourism in Palawan and the Philippines in general.

”We are really committed to help preserve Palawan and the country’s environment for the future generations,” Kenney said. “If we don’t save our world for the next generation, we haven’t done our part,” she added.

US envoy visits Puerto Princesa, checks on programs to benefit Palaweños PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Nov. 3 (PNA) - American Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie A. Kenney visited this city Friday to check on US-sponsored programs.

Kenney also met with US Peace Corps volunteers assigned in Palawan, discussed issues of mutual interest with local government business officials and enjoyed the beauty of Palawan, the country’s “last frontier.”

Mayor Hagedorn looks at proposing “greenbelts” for barangays PDF Print E-mail

CITY MAYOR Edward S. Hagedorn is looking at the possibility of encouraging all 66 barangay leaderships in Puerto Princesa to consider designating one or two “greenbelt” zones in their jurisdictions that will serve as miniature community parks.

He said these will not only improve the City’s concern for environment protection, but will also persuade barangay residents to embrace the value of volunteering to keep their surroundings clean.

Asia World Resort Hotel to open again PDF Print E-mail

THE FIVE-STAR Asia World Resort Hotel might operate again, as disclosed by City Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn during in an interview a few days before his October 12, 2006 birthday.
       
Although he didn’t name who the potential buyers are, or which company is planning to pursue the acquisition, the chief executive is positive that this new development will enhance Puerto Princesa’s tourism industry.
       
“The buyers of Asia World are here, and it seems that there is a likelihood of a sale because they have met the owner,” he told Palawan Times.

Gov’t allocates P9B for airports, road projects in Palawan PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Oct. 11 (PNA) - A total of P9.2 billion fund has been approved by the national government for implementation of airport and road network projects in Palawan under the super regions scheme mentioned by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in her state of the nation address last July.

This was announced by Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano during the Road Show Presentation on Central Philippines Projects which was attended by Palawan government officials, tourism stakeholders and businessmen and considered to be the biggest gathering held at the Legend Hotel here Wednesday morning.
