Puerto Princesa boatmen get first aid, basic life support training PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 March 2007

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, March 26 (PNA) - Some 50 boatmen, who are considered as frontliners in tourism, are undergoing a five-day Training Program on First Aid and Basic Life Support at the Asturias Hotel, this city from March 26 to 30.

Imelda Yayen, city tourism operation officer, said the training for boatmen is necessary as this would enable them to respond during accidents and save lives, especially at sea.

She said the training is an annual activity that aims to ensure tourists, especially those exploring Puerto Princesa’s “Underground River” and doing island hopping in Honda Bay, safety and comfort while enjoying the beauty of the tourist spots.

It is initiated by Mayor Edward Hagedorn, the city tourism officer and City Health Office.

Participants will be trained on giving first aid and emergency care, handling of burns, shock, soft tissue injury, poisoning, bones, joint muscle injury, bandaging, basic extrication and spinal injury management and basic life support. (PNA)
