Puerto Princesa, Makati ink sisterhood ties PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Hagedorn and Mayor BinayPUERTO PRINCESA CITY, March 14 (PNA) -- The highly urbanized Puerto Princesa City has added to the number of local governments who forged sisterhood ties with Makati City.

In a ceremony held at the Asturias Hotel this city Thursday, Mayor Edward Hagedorn and Mayor Jejomar Binay signed a sisterhood agreement to promote and foster mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill.

Both agreed to create economic partnership, cultural and educational exchanges, develop arts and tourism, assist each other on urban planning, extend medical missions and protect the environment.

Hagedorn expressed his intention to promote Puerto Princesa eco-tourism in Makati, aside from being the financial capital of the Philippines, with its modern malls and other tourist attractions, the city has been a major destination for local and foreign visitors alike.

For his part, Binay said he wanted to learn how Puerto Princesa attain being a model city in sustainable development, demonstrating balance and harmony between development and environment.

The Makati official also interested on Puerto Princesa’s program on cleanliness, beautification and sanitation which earned the for the city the coveted label of Hall of Fame for being the cleanest and greenest city in the country. (PNA)
