Puerto Princesa City ColiseumPUERTO PRINCESA CITY, May 19 (PNA) -- More than 2,000 government certified public accounts (CPAs) all over the country have gathered for the annual 30th Government Association of Certified Public Accounts (GACPA) National Convention to be held at the city coliseum from May 19 to 21.

Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano and Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando will lead the panel of guest speakers during the three-day activity.

Durano will discuss “Tourism Revenues: Its Impact to the Philippine Economy”, while Fernando will tackle “Risk Management: The MMDA Experience”.

With more than 17,000 members, GACPA is the biggest sectoral organization of CPAs in the country.

It plays a vital role in influencing the level of professionalism, integrity and productivity in government. Its members are directly involved in the planning, management and review of the use of government resources.

Assistant Commissioner Jaime Naranjo, GACPA national president, said that GACPA vows to seek the promotion of high standard of technical competence and professionalism among its members and the use of state-of-the-art accounting practices in government; provide benefits to its members; foster cordial, harmonious and fruitful relationship among government CPAs; and promote outreach programs and community relations-enhancement activities beneficial to members and to the community at large.

GACPA envisions itself as an ally of government in developing and sustaining the country’s economy and an organization that is participative and cooperative in the developmental efforts of the various sectors of the government, Naranjo said. (PNA)
