DOT to hold tourism confab in Puerto Princesa on May 27-28 PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, May 26 (PNA) -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) will conduct a two-day conference-workshop on May 27-28 at the Legend Hotel here.

Tourism Undersecretary Salvador Sarabia said the activity is the second in a series of regional conference that aims to turn the threat of tourism into opportunities by promoting responsible travel to areas focused on environmental protection and promotion of well-being of community.

Sarabia said it involved selected local government units, non-governmental organizations and the academe in the southern Tagalog Region in the formulation of policies that will strengthen local destinations.

It will also enhance the country's image as a safe, convenient and comfortable place to visit, he added.

The DOT official urges media entities here to generate awareness to the region, particularly on the “Environmental Security on Tourism (TEST) in connection with the Safety of Tourist Operational Program (STOP) of the DOT. (PNA)
