Puerto Princesa, Wuxi, China strengthen bilateral ties PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 19 June 2008

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, June 19 (PNA) -- The Puerto Princesa City government and the Wuxi municipal government of the People’s Republic of China recently affirmed their sisterhood relationship and thus strengthened and solidified the city's relationship with other neighboring Asian cities.

Recently, Puerto Princesa residents got a taste of Wuxi arts and cultural heritage during an exhibit held at the coliseum here.

The activity was an offshoot to the sisterhood memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn and Mayor Mao Xiao Ping of Wuxi Municipal People’s Government of China last year.

Wuxi is located in the Jiangsu Province, on the southeast coast of China.

After the MOU, Hagedorn and Xiao Ping formalized the efforts of both local government units (LGUs) to promote socio-economic development programs, tourism, environmental protection, food and agriculture in Puerto Princesa and Wuxi cities.

Hagedorn said the sisterhood relation with Wuxi is “a welcome development in the exchange of ideas, manpower resources, and development programs” of the city.

Puerto Princesa and Wuxi commonly promote friendly reciprocal visit, economic and trade industry exchanges and actively carry out relations in various fields, such as trade and commerce, science and technology, culture, sports, public works, education and eco-tourism. (PNA)
