Koreans to manufacture e-tricycles in Puerto Princesa PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Hagedorn testing e-tricyclePUERTO PRINCESA CITY, June 26 (PNA) -- Palawan's environmental advocacy has spawned another innovation: the use of electric tricycles (e-tricycles) to reduce air and noise pollution.

Mayor Edward Hagedorn said that a group of Korean businessmen expressed their willingness to manufacture environment-friendly and economical electric-powered “Trikebayan” in this city and supply them to the rest of the country.

He said the Korean partners will be arriving anytime this week and bring prototype of the said e-tricycle.

Hagedorn has been pushing for e-tricycle which does not emit any noise or carbon monoxide.

It only costs P48 or $ 1.20 per day to operate, while a gasoline-powered tricycle operation would cost P200.

It noted that Rolly Concepcion, who conceptualized the Trikebayan, said that converting a tricycle engine to electric costs P68,000.

Hagedorn said that Concepcion has no enough investment capital to manufacture e-tricycles.

There are now some 2.8 million tricycles in the country. (PNA)
