PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Aug. 13 (PNA) -- Members of the provincial board (PB) of Palawan congratulated the port management office (PMO) of Puerto Princesa for being adjudged as the country's "Most Environment Friendly Port".

The provincial board's congratulation was contained in the resolution approved during its regular session Tuesday.

Vice Gov. David Ponce de Leon hailed the leadership of port manager Luis Cuison, who has been pursuing environmental initiatives drawing inspiration from the city government's clean and green program, the Strategic Environmental Plan for Palawan and the PPA guidelines on orderliness, cleanliness and safety at ports.

Ponce de Leon also praised the PMO for topping the 23 major country ports which focuses on the management of solid waste, clean and green programs, promotion of environmental awareness related achievements and awards, energy and water conservation.

The country ports and harbors, as convergence points of passengers and inter-modal transport, face constant environmental threats of water, air and pollution, the vice governor said. (PNA)
