Puerto Princesa rises as tourism, convention hub PDF Print E-mail

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Nov. 14 (PNA) - The highly urbanized Puerto Princesa City is fast becoming a tourism and convention center for the country’s medical practitioners.

On November 18 to 20, the city is hosting the 45th National Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar of the Department of Health National Association of Dentists (DHNAD) here.

A total of 200 dentists are expected to attend the three-day gathering.

Last September, more than 1,000 members and officers of the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) attended its mid-year convention here and supported Mayor Edward Hagedorn’s reforestation campaign.

Dr. Florante F. Bobila, president of the DHNAD, said the city was chosen as venue because the dentists personally want to see its beauty.

Delegates want to enjoy the peaceful ambiance and the splendor of its natural frontiers, Bobila added.

Puerto Princesa has turned into a convention hub through the years due to the efforts of the city government to protect its environment and because of the world famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, famously known as the “Underground River”.

The annual assembly-seminar will have Management of Intrinsic Jaw Injury, Pre-Orthodontic Surgery and the New Dental Law (Republic Act 9484) for topics.

Hagedorn will be given honorary membership during the seminar.

This is the first time it will be done by DHNAD, according to Bobila.

The theme of this year's activity is "DHNAD Towards Excellence in its Finest." (PNA)
